Remarks & Notes
Yellow Leaves, Yellow Locomotives: NYS&W Memories. With the sweet smell of Autumn in the air — the scent resulting from a small amount of residual sugar decaying in the yellow maple leaves — we draw our attention to the roar of four yellow locomotives rolling south through Central New York's Tioughnioga River Valley. This was an extremely rare afternoon southbound on a warm, sunny, Autumn day. Many of the leaves were gone from the hilltops to the east; but soon, too, these locomotives would be gone. Alco C-430 No. 3006 left the roster less than two years later. It's now on the LA&L. No. 2012 is now also gone. This short unit train of gondolas from the old Jamesville Quarry is heading for points south. I chased it as far as Messengerville, where the sun went below the horizon, ending a memorable day on the Syracuse Branch. Scanned from Kodachrome 64.

From a hint of "Bee" (NKP 765), colorful "Bees" (KCS), "Bees" w/ "attitude", to "Bees" that "sting" your eyes, in their own way they have "Bee" on display! Equipment that "Buzzes" with Yellow & Black colors! ("Bees" can still "Bee" entering this "hive"!)
