I would like to dedicate this one to the GE fans. Here we find ballast train A013 working its way south on the old Western Railway of Alabama at my beloved "Cotton Patch Crossing" in Auburn (otherwise known as Chadwick Lane). CSX 7055 (ex-SCL, C30-7) puts on the stereotypical old school GE smoke plume as it performs work train duties with CSX 5548 (ex-C&O, B30-7). When I "heard tell" of this train on the radio I rang up my pal John Higginson to let him know he probably needed to get his a$$ out there. Old John was almost late to "Great Books II" by the time he came out to fulfill his railfan duties, but it didn't hurt me any because I was a recent graduate at the time (unemployed of course). Since this image was taken the cotton patch has fallen victim to an SEC style RV park which I could easily do without, and the old Dash-7s have been retired. Also worth noting is how great these motors looked in the APPROPRIATE CSX paint scheme. WAR EAGLE!
