Remarks & Notes
On a rainy afternoon in Happy Valley, an EMD TR5 'Cow and Calf' pairing work the west end of Provo Yard while the Delta Local awaits departure for Lynndyl and points west. Back in the 1960s and 70s, the Union Pacific could put together some pretty amazing power lash ups. On this day, the Delta Local includes two GP9Ms, an SD45, a GP30B, and a third GP9M. UP's GP9Ms were essentially GP20s, with turbochargers and other upgrades added by UP shop forces. Built in 1951, EMDs TR5 pairs were quite rare, with only 10 TR5As and 12 TR5Bs ever produced.
