Remarks & Notes

Brand new rebuild, the 1444 is undergoing some tests before mainline service.

Notes from FCAB expert Mel Turner about this series of 2 G22CU engines 1443-1444:
GR12-3 1500 HP (note GR12-3 is the NREC classification)
Built with 567C for WAGR was classified as G12C. Hulks purchased by NREC from Tranz Rail NZ, shipped to USA November 2005.
Engine #1443: WAGR A1502 Clyde 60-217 1960 - NREC 121-0110-001 01/10
Engine #1444: WAGR A1510 Clyde 65-374 1965 - NREC 121-0110-002 01/10
Despatched NREC Mount Vernon 21/01/2010 to the Port of Houston. Initial trials Antofagasta 15/04/2010. Apparently upgraded by NREC to 645D, N-FORCE microprocessor control

WAGR stands for Western Australian Government Railway. Indeed, this locomotive has travelled a lot across the world (Australia, New Zealand, USA, Chile).
