| Engineer Earl Knoob looks ahead from the cab of San Luis & Rio Grande #18 as we climb the east side of La Veta Pass at 13mph on the trip back to Alamosa. The throttle is wide open and we are along for the ride up the mountain as the fireman keeps the steam gauge tickling 200psi. A ride behind #18 across the Pass is highly recommended for anyone wishing to see some of Colorado's mountain railroading at its best.
