Remarks & Notes
Tweetsie 4-6-0 No. 11 was one of 4 Class 10 locomotives built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1915 for the Eastern Tennessee & Western North Carolina Railroad. These small narrow gauge locomotives had 45" drivers, 16 x 22 inch cylinders, boiler pressure of 180 lbs, and produced a modest 19,149 lbs of tractive effort. Tweetsie 11 spent her life working in the mountains and was finally scrapped in February, 1952. This George Pettengill image from my collection was taken in the Doe River Gorge, near Pardee Point (between Hampton and Blevins, TN).
