| Remarks & Notes |
| The Omen. Day 2 of the Durango & Silverton's annual Railfest dawned mostly cloudy and the weather just went downhill from there. When Eureka & Palisade #4 arrived in Silverton around 5 PM, it was pouring rain. Although she was scheduled to be part of a night photo shoot at the Silverton Depot that evening, things just weren't looking positive. Then suddenly, around 6:15 PM, a sliver of clear sky began to appear to the west. Within minutes, the rain over the depot halted, and the sun began to light little Eureka. Like magic, a rainbow formed in the mist over the hills and began to grow and deepen in color. By 6:30, everyone around the Depot area was blasting away with their cameras at this amazing sight....which lasted for around 10 minutes. It was an omen for sure. By dark, skies were nearly clear, the air was drying out and the photo shoot was on. Eureka's reputation as one lucky little engine just continues..... |
