Remarks & Notes
A grand PRR depot in downtown Chester, having escaped demolition, survives well into the next century, turning 114 years old this year. The build date, 1903, is marked on the chimney. Long ago, a grass filled oval in the now open lot provided a more dignified look to the entrance of the station. PRR discontinued service in the mid-sixties, Amtrak revived it for a short time om 1978, but now only SEPTA calls port to the town of Chester. For a view from the platform, click here.
