Remarks & Notes
A sign on the bulletin board announces changes coming soon to America's passenger rail network. Trains 97 and 98 (the Champion), which stop here, offered a coach and seasonal sleeping car service from NYC. It connected with 91 & 92 at Lakeland, and was considered "intercity", therefore "complaints to the ICC over discontinuance cannot be entertained, by virtue of the Rail Passenger Service Act of 1970". It was one of many of America's passenger trains that vanished on May 1, 1971 with the creation of Amtrak. Finally, the stake had been driven through the heart of the passenger train in the USA. So it was thought, anyway.
