Remarks & Notes
First fire in 3 years. Last night Judy and I spent 3 hours painting the boiler and smoke dome with high-temp aluminum paint. This morning Chief Engineer Greg and I covered them with insulation and installed the tin lagging. Then we bolted the stack in place and did a few other things. We took a break for lunch and I made the 1:00 Portage Flyer run with #3 (the GE 25-tonner) then at 2:00 we started pre-heating the boiler, although the saddle tank is not on yet. Tomorrow morning we will drop the saddle tank on and hopefully get some steam happening by late afternoon. Looks like everything is on track (pun intended) for the start of our steam season on July 1st - touch wood!
