Remarks & Notes
Approaching Gary from the north, the highway and the South Shore Line cross over the B&O mainline at Miller, Indiana. As I crossed the bridge, off in the distance I saw an eastbound B&O freight really smoking it up as it approached. I quickly turned off and found a place to get a shot. B&O T3 4-8-2 5558 and train passed me in a ground shaking explosion of sight and sound! Look at the stack, steps and pilot deck. It looks like a white residue; maybe the result of foaming or bad water?
