Remarks & Notes |
In over 30 years of rail fanning I have never seen an EMD make this much smoke. The WC 814 was assigned to the north end switch crew at Shops yard and as the afternoon progressed the clouds just kept getting bigger. Jokingly we wondered if possibly back in her FRV/GBW days she made it to Norwood and maybe someone sneaked a 251 under the hood. In any case the billowing smoke caused quite the consternation in the yard tower at North Fond as the yardmaster was heard to bellow into the radio "What the heck is going on up at the north end? Is something on fire?" A long pause was followed with a rather subdued "its just us, the north end switch job with the 814". At that point I was laughing so hard it was almost impossible to hold the camera steady. |
