| Milw 555 passes the Grand Crossing tower at the east end of Milwaukee's La Crosse yard. I think this job was called the Portage Patrol, but it was a long time ago and things are getting pretty hazy. 555 was the only Milwaukee SD9 rebuild I ever seen with the newer EMD style cab. It worked this job fairly often in the late 70's and could be counted on for a late afternoon/evening arrival at La Crosse where it yarded its train. The crewman is wearing a late 70's "safety vest". |
