Gas burning
The FCCA 1012 was modified so as to work partly on natural gas and partly on fuel. The green car behind the engine is a "gas tender". It contains bottles of compressed natural gas. The efficiency - and cleanliness - of the locomotive is significantly improved, particularly at high altitudes, where lower oxygen intake results into poor burning and waste of fuel. |
