The last years of British steam were characterised by a remarkable co-operation between the nationalised British Railways and enthusiast societies & clubs. A huge number of 'Railtours' throughout the length and breadth of the United Kingdom on main line, branch and even 'freight only' routes often saw historical motive power deployed. This Central Scottish tour, organised by the Branch Line Society featured this beautifully proportioned, 1916-built, former Caledonian Railway 4-4-0 (CR Class 113). She was coupled to two immaculately restored Caledonian coaches. The photographer and exact location are unknown, but the circular tour began and ended in Polmont to the west of Edinburgh and covered various lesser routes in the region.
