| The eastbound W&W "Sandman" was slowly rounding a curve at the bottom of Gainesboro Hill on April 10, 1987, passing an old barn that has seen better days. RS-3 No. 527 and S-6 No. 80 have had an easy time of it since leaving Gore, following Back Creek up the valley. That would soon change as the battled to lift their 12 car train up the hill, eventually stalling and having to double. |
