Pssst, wanna hear a good story? My father was in the local historical society, a member had a boy who was 'interested in railways'. My father (bless him) kindly loaned some of my negatives to him. Unfortunately he didn't tell me, nor did he ever ask for them back! Worse still, I'd never met the boy. I eventually realised they were missing about four years ago when I started to scan my archive. I just assumed they had somehow got lost. By the most amazing co-incidence, a friend of mine happened to mention my name last year in casual conversation to the 'keeper' of the negatives who he knew. "I've got some of Steve Armitage's negatives", said the 'keeper'. Over 40 years after they went missing I got them back - yesterday! Here's an ex-LMS '4F' 0-6-0 gently rolling it's train westward towards the marshalling yards at Healey Mills about 2 miles further down the line. By 1965 this class were very scarce and this is the only photograph I ever took of one. I treasure it more than the above few words can say.
