| Simple economics dictate that today, things can't be done with the permanence they were done years ago. Witness former PRR cast iron Milepost 160 at Hawstone, PA, taken on Oct. 12, 1989. With the raised number, the pattern had to be changed each time one was cast. One has to wonder when it was placed and how many coats of paint it has seen come and go over the years, not to mention the trains. |
