| Remarks & Notes |
| During the 1960's, Alco RS-3s, along with EMD F7As, were the staple of the Manassas-Harrisonburg Branch. By the 1970's, they had been replaced by EMD GP30s, GP35s, and finally, GP38s. I was amazed on April 12, 1974, when driving down U.S. Route 11, to see RS-3 No. 2041 setting by the road on a southbound work extra. The crew had stopped at the local Tastee-Freeze to have lunch. I had to stop and take advantage of the situation. |
