D&S trainman Steve Wasiura releases hand brakes the old fashioned way on cars being picked up by our photo charter at Rockwood. These old staff brakes take some muscle since about the only mechanical leverage you have is from the brake club. You have to release enough tension to allow the dog or ratchet holding it to be kicked loose, which is not easy if they were tied down well to begin with.
