The last Alco
The last Alco in operation on the Ferrocarril Central Andino works at Cerro de Pasco where it shunts cars between the copper mine and the FCCA yard. It is operated by FCCA, the railroad operator, but it is still the property of the state-owned FVCA company. These Alcos are not used any more on mainline and they have been discarded by the FCCA because they have a tendency to derail on the sharply inclined or curved tracks running over the Andean mountains, where they have caused numerous and murderous accidents.
