| Remarks & Notes |
| Geneva Steel SW1200 1160, a former Missouri Pacific locomotive, pulls a string of hot steel ingot lorries on plant trackage at the former United States Steel mill near Orem, Utah, in early 1992. The mill, shuttered by US Steel in 1987, reopened the next year as locally-owned Geneva Steel, becoming the last steel mill in the western United States creating steel from limestone, iron ore, and coke. Despite millions spent on modernization, Geneva Steel declared bankruptcy, and the facility closed for good in 2002. Today, everything in this scene is gone, and the land is being reclaimed for future commercial and residential development. |
