SU-99 gets underway across the Hackensack River at 1725. Today's power is SD40T-2 3014 (SP 8321, built 4/78), SD40T-2 3012 (SP 8242, built 4/80), and SD40-2 3018 (SOU 3267, built 1/78). The 3018 has interesting spotting features. It was built has a high-nose Southern SD40-2 and was rebuilt with a low nose. However, sometime around the end of its NS career it lost its water sighting glass window and eventually also lost its rain gutter over the front cab entry door, both standard -2 spotting features. A very interesting unit with a neat history to say the least.
