| Perched high on the mountainside above Rio Grande's Big Ten Curves south of Golden is almost like watching a CTC machine come to life. An afternoon westbound wraps its 57 car train around the first horseshoe curve leaving Rocky siding, now into the heart of the grade. An SD45 and GP30 lead the way; a pair of GP40s shove on the caboose. The train is a fascinating assortment of 70s era freight equipment. |
