| A short westbound pig train slowly makes its way across the Bagley Fill, first leg of the Southern Pacific's crossing of the Great Salt Lake west of Ogden late on a June morning in 1986. At this point, rising lake waters had frequently been washing away SP's line across the shallow, briney, turbulent lake, and its continued survival was not assured. Mount Ogden dominates the background. |
