Weyerhaeuser Woods Railroad “Woods Train” drifts downgrade over Evergreen Road in Ostrander toward its destination of the huge Weyerhaeuser mill complex in Longview, WA. Within the next 2 miles the train will duck under Interstate 5, cross over the BN Seattle-Portland mainline, curve around Rocky Point and cross over the Cowlitz River. The hogger has GP7 # 309, SW9 # 310, SW7 # 301 & GP9 # 305 well in hand holding back about 50 cars controlling the train’s descent with air brakes as evidenced by blue brake shoe smoke seen further up the line.
