Westbound C&O manifest freight train No. 91 leaves the Richmond skyline behind as it accelerates off the west end of the James River Viaduct with GP30 No. 3024 in the lead on May 15, 1982. As information, the impressive James River Viaduct was not built to cross the James River, but instead to parallel it and raise the railroad above the congested downtown area and its busy streets. |
