The waters of the River Churnet drift slowly by overlooked by red sandstone hills. The late afternoon sun lends a rosy hue as our charter parcels train with 44767 at the helm, makes its final run into sleepy Cheddleton. Here, in the space of a mere 200 yards the canal, river, railway and country road are all squeezed into the Churnet Valley, yet they all sit comfortably in this seemingly timeless landscape. It's a great place to be if you like to imagine a Britain that time somehow forgot.
