| Black Canyon Part II: If Black Canyon is merely amazing in daylight, then it's downright dramatic under a full moon. In this two-minute, fifteen-second exposure, westbound trains on CN (left) and CP race each other along the Thompson River, their headlights playing off the canyon walls and river's rough surface. The red glow on the CP train is the westbound home signal at Black Canyon, while the CN train's passage clearly shows off truss details on the Thompson River bridge. Of course, the CN train would win this race as it stayed on home rails at the beginning of co-production at Coho/Nepa. (No Photoshop trickery here, folks; this scene captures exactly what happened at the conclusion of that wonderful day.) Photo from private property taken with permission. |
