Remarks & Notes
The morning fog has yet to lift as an early trackage-rights train climbs Oreton Hill out of "Jones' Cut" behind three Seaboard System SD50s. This train accessed the SR/NS main at Appalachia, since the bridge at Big Stone Gap had not been completed. The two lines strung from the pole aren't "code" lines (for CTC), but the company phone lines---one for the "message" line, and the other for the dispatcher. The white classification lights are for a purpose: this was still train order territory, so this was "SBD Extra 8622 East" on the NS Knoxville dispatcher's train sheet.
