Remarks & Notes
Eastbound NS 234 crosses the former Norfolk & Western Railway Ohio River Bridge at Kenova, West Virginia at sunset with double stacks on the Heartland Corridor. Kenova got its name from its tri-state location of KENtucky, Ohio, and VirginiA. In 1863, during the American Civil War, the state of West Virginia was created from the Union sympathetic counties of northwestern Virginia. Hence, no W as Kenova was founded prior to the Civil War in 1859 (although not incorporated until 1894).
