Remarks & Notes
A truly historic moment as 6201 'Princess Elizabeth' becomes the first steam loco to haul a train from Birmingham New Street station in around 44 years. When the station was rebuilt is 1965 it was classified as an underground station, and so steam traction was totally banned from ever working there. However, due to 'outside the box' thinking, and sensible negotiations between Network Rail, Vintage Trains and West Coast Railway Company, a plan was devised where the LMS Pacific never needed to go beneath the body of the station. Full credit to the crew for making a visually fantastic departure as well as an aurally magic one.
