Atlantic Coast Line No. 250, a 1910 Baldwin 4-6-0 and one of only four surviving ACL steamers, sits in front of the former company warehouse that is now the fine Wilmington Railroad Museum in North Carolina. Wilmington was once the headquarters of the mighty Atlantic Coast Line even though ironically it was at the end of a branch! In the 1980's the locomotive's asbestos was removed and today the machine is in excellent shape. Note the odd looking valve conversion atop the cylinders when it was converted to superheated steam. To the right of No. 250 and no longer standing, were the headquarters, station, roundhouse and other ancillary buildings of the large complex.
