Remarks & Notes |
While "home" from Alaska on vacation I was fortunate to catch a loaded P&W ethanol train. While growing up in Rhode Island I spent many a night watching P&W's nocturnal freight operations as they paused in Woonsocket to make a run up the Slatersville Branch to my hometown. However, I was never fortunate enough to be able to shoot anything moving in daylight other than passenger specials. Finally, 10 years removed from Rhode Island and a half a world away from my new home I finally realized a long time goal of shooting a freight on my "hometown" road. The perfect A-B-A consist looks good as it rolls through the small ex New Haven yard. Punctuating the scene are the gold domes of St. Michael's Ukranian Orthodox Church which opened its doors in 1942.
Thanks to fellow RPN poster Nick Palazini for a fun half day of train chasing. |
