Unlike the Santa Fe Texas-types, PRR's coal-burning 2-10-4's (PRR Class J1a) could fit on the table as their tenders were shorter. #6494 was assigned to the Columbus terminal for Sandusky coal service, and goes for a spin in front of John's camera. At least one other railroad in the Columbus area used the Texas-type, the C&O, hauling coal drags was big business north-south through this area at the time. Two PRR locomotives would ordinarily be assigned the run to Sandusky, account of the stiff grade leaving Columbus northward.
