| The end for the LS&I Alco fleet was just weeks away when I shot this set of RSD-15's departing Eagle Mills with the 7AM Hill Job. I knew the end was near and made the 130 mile trip up to Marquette even though the weather forecast for the day was "partly cloudy"(usually more clouds than anything in the UP). Anyway this early morning shot was the only photo of the day in any kind of sun. 2405,2400,2402 are on the roll with 119 loads heading to the dock. The track to the left is the old lead to the Pioneer pellet plant. The track remains and is still used when trains switch the yard but the plant was torn down a few years ago after sitting unused for years. |
