| Remarks & Notes |
| Curving through the Soldier Hollow recreation area, Heber Valley Railroad's beautifully restored NW-2 #1011 rambles through deep snow on it's return trip to Heber City. The 1011 was built by EMD for the Union Pacific in July 1940. It finished out it's career as a yard goat at UP's now abandoned switching yard in Las Vegas, formally retired in July 1977. It was donated to the state of Utah by August of 1977, and shipped by rail and truck to Heber City where it has been in service for nearly 33 years. This classic switcher, repainted last May in Union Pacific's 'Challenger' livery will celebrate it's 70th birthday in July. |
