Remarks & Notes
On a frigid winter morning a train of empty ore cars heads up the hill and through Tunnel One for the mines around Copper Flat, where they will be loaded back to the mill at McGill. Or at least this is a 2000 recreation of such an operation. Joel Jensen was in charge of the Nevada Northern winter photo shoots in those days and arranged for 93 to be relettered for K.C.C. As corrected from the comment below, I understand the 93 is lettered for N.C.C.Co (not K.C.C.) for this year's winter photo events. It was originally an N.C.C.Co (Nevada Consolidated Copper Company) engine before Nevada Consolidated was absorbed by Kennecott. Nevada Northern ran the common carrier line from Ely to connections with the WP and SP, NCCCo and then KCC ran the ore line from the mines to the smelter. The annual NN winter photo shoots have been going on for over ten years, and just keep getting more popular. And the date is 2000 not 2003 as originally posted.
