The 1970 merger that created Burlington Northern Railroad wiped out the identities of the Chicago Burlington & Quincy, Great Northern, Northern Pacific and Spokane Portland & Seattle railroads, but the CB&Q's subsidiaries Colorado & Southern and Fort Worth & Denver remained as separate railroads, even though they shared the new BN paint scheme with the parent company.
