| After a series of mild, wet and gloomy winters, Britain has been hit by heavy snow and desperately low temperatures. One of 2 of Electric Traction Ltd's 'for rent' class 86s finds employment heading a northbound Warrington-Shieldmuir (Glasgow) additional mail train. Freezing temperatures mean the normally self-propelled class 325 postal EMUs suffer reliability problems, necessitating locomotive haulage. 3 class 325s are being hauled north in this shot.
