| Anatomy of a Meet, Part 2: Westbound M-SPOPAS1-23A is now just shy of the Providence Hill summit while eastbound S-SEPLPC1-23K cruises downgrade toward a clear signal at Sand. The benefit of this stretch of 2MT is clear: After passing each other in the midst of the 0.6% grade on the east side of the hill, the two trains can continue toward their destinations without having incurred any of the delay inherent in the use of a passing siding. |
