| Remarks & Notes |
| Less than a week old and pulling the DT&I's "hottest" train, our southward run to Springfield, Ohio was interrupted briefly for MofW work just north of Delta. Lucky for me, the sun and sky was perfect to capture this image of the entire consist while we waited. This was the first of many trips I made to Springfield back in the '70s, but this was the only trip that featured brand-new power. We left Flat Rock at 9:15 AM with units 409-406-209 (GP38-2) 956-957 (GP7s) and had 64 loads/32 empties/5680 tons. Units 956-957 were dead but we did have a message stating they could started and used if needed, but that wasn't necessary. The GP7s were making their final trip over the DT&I and enroute to Paducah, KY to become "Paducah rebuilds."
