Remarks & Notes
Over the weekend of 14/15 November, construction took place on the N1 freeway bridge over the railway between Centurion and Irene stations, necessitating the overhead power supply being shut off. Class 34 and 35 diesels were brought in to haul trains between Pretoria and Irene. Running long hood forward, class 34-200 no. 34-240 climbs the grade out of Pretoria with Metrorail train 0608 to Johannesburg. The building in the background is the ABSA bank, one of Pretoria's city centre landmarks.
