They are observing the new Colorado Railcar built DMU pull in account US Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is on board having just ridden to and from Spencer Glacier in the company of high ranking US Forest Service officials. They were wooing her for continued Federal Support of their "Whistle Stop" project which is opening up the spectacular but remote interior of the Chugach National Forest for tourism through the use of railroad access provided by this new car which was purchased in part with USFS funds. Very Interesting photo indeed! Posted by Bill V Cronenberg on November 3, 2009 While working as a Designer at Colorado Railcar, I had the privilege to work on the design team of this DMU. I designed the Upper level interior, Fuel Tank/Fuel System, Galley, Luggage Racks, HVAC System and Engineer's cabs of this DMU. The nice photo you have attached, brings back great memories of the good times I had in helping design this DMU for the Alaska Railroad. This DMU was the last DMU designed and built by Colorado Railcar. It is a shame that Colorado Railcar is out of business, as I would have loved to have designed more of these DMU's for the Alaska Railroad. Thank You for submitting your excellent photograph.
