On road trucks no less, Is that beast still running? Nice shot.

Yes it is still running at Plant McDonough. It has been repainted since this picture was taken. Plant McDonough is currently being converted to a gas fired plant and will no longer receive coal shipments sometime next year. I don't know what will become of this unit. GE made only one other unit like this and it was at Georgia Powers plant in Milledgeviile, GA. I don't know the current status of that unit. I hired on at Georgia Power as a switchman at Plant McDonough in 1986, and worked on this unit for about two years before going to the Line Department.
