Remarks: C&S Denver-Cheyenne freight extra 700D plowed in to on-time southbound Billings-Denver passenger train #30 at 6:48 a.m. in Broomfield, CO, when it failed to wait at Utah Junction or hold the siding at Semper. The collision destroyed CB&Q E7 #9936B and C&S F7-A 700D, and killed both engineers and one fireman. Detailed information about the collision can be found here.

The official cause of this accident is listed as a train order error. Three people were killed. Again, great historical photo.

That is ugly. This could be the picture in the Encyclopedia with the subject heading "Train Wreck."
