Remarks & Notes |
A Southern Pacific freight train headed by diesel locomotive # 7297, a GP40M, is seen here eastbound along the eastern bank of the cement lined Los Angeles River on the afternoon of January 29th, 1998. This section of the L.A. River, boarding the east side of Downtown, is home to many beautiful bridges built during the years from 1909 thru 1940. Each bridge has its own unique design and construction features, none of which by the way feature any mechanical operations since the river is not navigable. An interesting technical note regarding this image is that this digital file was not made with a conventional digital scanner but instead it was made using a converted Bessler slide duping machine equipped with a Canon 1Ds Mark III. I was able to create a 21 mega pixel RAW file from the Kodachrome original within seconds. Steve Crise Photo, © 1998 Scrise.com |
