| Remarks: EMD's only commercial venture into industrial locomotives came in 1940-43 with the "Model 40." Basically a powered NW2 cab, the 44-ton critter carried two Detroit Diesel 150 H.P. Model 71, six-cylinder engines. Only eleven examples were sold. Built in April 1942, Calumet Steel 1 originally worked for a U.S. Army defense contractor near Chicago |
