4-Way Meet at Waumbek. Four Mt. Washington Railway trains converge at Waumbek Water Tank late on a fall afternoon. On the left, Diesel Locomotive M-1 handles the A-Section of the ascending 3 PM train, followed by Steamer #4 with the B-train...the latter pausing to take water. On the right, Steamer #9 leads #2 with the descending 1 PM trains. With the railway drawing down steam operations in 2009, this scene from fall 2008 may have been one of the very last times that three or more steamers would meet on the mountain.
