Within minutes of getting his hi-rail on the track travelling north towards Winniany on what was supposed to be a simple visitor trip, the track inspector finds a broken rail plate, caused by the poor condition of the wooden ties. Without any other help it is replaced, the track ballast packed up, new spikes hammered into place and we are back on our way 15 minutes later
